You might be getting an idea of how the Box thing work in the YN realm. Every account is registered to a specific PTC (that’s Pokémon Transferring Contraption, guess who invented and named it) and the Pokémon you “box” actually get send to someone you trust will take care for them for you ― either someone you know or a Day-Care/Nursery with professional breeders. The latter can be costly though.

And yeah, Cathy and Doug are not actual siblings. Surprise! If you think it doesn’t matter… Well, for now it might not.
